In a new development in the “Escobar of Sahara” case, the investigating judge at the Casablanca Court of Appeal ordered the detention of Said Naciri, President of Wydad Athletic Club of Casablanca, early Friday morning. Naciri is allegedly involved in a case related to international drug trafficking.
According to Maroc Hebdo magazine, Said Naciri was referred to the Prosecutor General of the Casablanca Court of Appeal by the National Judicial Police Brigade (BNPJ) on Thursday. He faces serious charges including drug trafficking, forgery, money laundering, and abuse of power.
Among the 25 individuals implicated in the case involving Malian drug lord Lhaj Ahmed Benbrahim, known as “the Malian” or “Escobar of Sahara”, a total of 21 people have been detained in Okacha Prison in Casablanca, while the remaining four accused individuals are on bail.
