The Moroccan national under-17 volleyball team faced another setback in the ongoing African U17 Championship, registering their third consecutive defeat against Egypt with a score of 0-3 (13-25/08-25/10-25) in a match played on Friday. The championship, taking place from December 10 to 20 in Misrata, Libya, has seen the Moroccan team struggling to secure victories.
This loss comes after the team’s previous defeats against Libya, where they lost 0-3 (18-25/14-25/22-25), and Tunisia, with a scoreline of 0-3 (23-25/19-25/20-25).
In their upcoming fourth match, the national squad is scheduled to face Cameroon on Saturday, December 16, at 15:00.
The Moroccan team is among the five nations participating in this inaugural edition of the African U17 Volleyball Championship. Alongside Tunisia, Egypt, Cameroon, and host nation Libya.
During the initial stage, these five nations compete against each other. The top four teams in the rankings will proceed to the semi-finals, aiming to secure a spot in the final rounds.
Notably, the top three teams in the African Championship standings will earn qualification for the upcoming World Championship slated for July-August 2024, although the host country for the event is yet to be determined.
