The Royal Moroccan Boxing Federation has announced that the national women’s boxing team has commenced its preparations for the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris 2024. Departing from Morocco last Friday, the team is set to participate in preparatory activities for the Olympic qualifiers and the African Games, with a primary focus on the Paris 2024 Olympics.
The team will engage in a training camp organized alongside several other nations in Turkey from February 10 to 20. Notable participants in this preparatory stage include the host country Turkey, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Poland.
Led by the technical director of the national team, Othmane Fadli, and head coach Abdelhak Achik, this training camp holds significant importance for the Moroccan team as they gear up for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Additionally, it serves as crucial preparation for the Olympic qualifiers scheduled in Italy from February 29 to March 12 and the African Games in Ghana from March 8 to 22.
The Moroccan contingent heading to Turkey comprises three boxers who have already secured qualification for the Paris 2024 Olympics. Among them is the 2023 World Champion in the 75kg category, Khadija Mardi, alongside Yassmine Moutaki, who secured third place in the world championship 2023 for the 50kg category, and Wydad Bertal, the African champion in the 54kg category. Additionally, Saida Lahmidi, a gold medalist in the 66kg category at the 2023 Arab Games in Algeria, will also be part of the team.
