Labib El Hamrani, the coach of the Moroccan National men’s basketball team, has submitted a request to be relieved of his duties, citing health reasons. In a letter addressed to Mustapha Aourach, the president of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation, El Hamrani expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to coach the national team but cited ongoing health challenges as the primary reason for his request.
“I am pleased to submit my request for leave from overseeing the National Senior team in the Afrobasket qualifiers at the end of this month, given the health circumstances I have been through after the surgery, especially the recovery period that was not sufficient for me to regain my full physical and health strength,” stated El Hamrani in his letter.
The board of the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation has accepted the request, taking into consideration El Hamrani’s health conditions.
Labib El Hamrani joined the national team as Coach in July 2021 and played a pivotal role in Morocco’s historic victory at the African Nations Championship for local players in 2023.
