A partnership agreement regarding the coverage of sports events was concluded on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, in Rabat. The agreement involved the Ministry of Youth, Culture, and Communication, the National Association of Media and Publishers (ANME), the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), and the Moroccan National Olympic Committee (CNOM).

In this context, Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, stated that this partnership stems from the announcement of Morocco hosting the 2030 World Cup and the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). He emphasized, “This partnership aims at better organizing the work of journalists to enable them to cover the planned sports events in Morocco and Internationally, such as the AFCON 2023 and the 2024 Paris Olympics.”
Moreover, the Minister specified that the first step to materialize this agreement is the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, where Moroccan journalists will represent the Kingdom in the best possible manner. He reiterated his department’s commitment to support the implementation of the signed convention.

Furthermore, Mehdi Bensaid highlighted that the delegation of Moroccan journalists to Côte d’Ivoire will be the largest in terms of numbers. Thanks to this agreement, representatives of national media will receive support and assistance to facilitate their work on the field. The Minister noted, “This is a first experience that will be evaluated and generalized to ensure that Moroccan journalists benefit from the best conditions to carry out their work,” emphasizing the important role of journalists given the widespread interest in sports, particularly the national football team, among all Moroccans.
On his part, the president of ANME, Driss Chahtane, explained that this partnership agreement is a roadmap to professionalize the work of Moroccan journalists at the international level. It constitutes a crucial step for the media coverage of international sports events.
In this regard, the president of ANME stated, “This is the first time that an official delegation of representatives from national media will be in Côte d’Ivoire to cover the Africa Cup of Nations,” adding that the role of the media, especially sports journalists, is to reflect the dynamic development of national sports in general and football in particular.
Therefore, the president of ANME emphasized that the coverage of the AFCON by Moroccan journalists will be the first step in implementing this agreement, allowing them to benefit from favorable conditions on-site, including accommodation and logistics, with the aim of contributing to the promotion of Moroccan football in this continental competition.
